Is Your Database Like a Thai Utility Pole?

I recently visited Thailand, and I loved the country, food and people. But I was shocked by the state of their wiring infrastructure. Many of their utility poles hold a nightmare of wires of every type – phone, data and power.

Is your database like that? If you don’t have a plan and follow industry best practices, you can end up with lots of unused junk. Over the years, it’s easy for people just to add new tables and fields, without understanding what the existing stuff does and removing it. The wiring in Thailand is a good example – it seems that nothing has ever been removed. Who knows which wires are still needed?

Sometimes it’s best to start with a clean sheet and design a database that gives you what you need now, not try to add more to your old, poorly-understood structure. We can help you with a fresh start.
