Standing out is our work on the environmental side of mining. Software is one of the most important components of responsible environmental management, and we're proud of the Environmental Management Information Systems (EMIS) we've built for this sector — systems that help ensure EPA compliance, log and categorize environmental incidents, track environmental data, and help companies limit their impact.
Teck Resources, a global mining company based in Canada, needed an EMIS to manage compliance and prioritize critical workflow. The system organized massive amounts of environmental data so Teck's impact could be tracked and limited, with future use in certifying and approving new mining operations.
The Need
Teck needed a system to assign environmental compliance and EHS responsibilities across primary and alternate roles, track training and competency, centralize legal requirements, and manage complex, prioritized task assignments.
The Solution
J Street built a role-based compliance platform that generates environmental worksheets and compliance matrices, prioritizes and escalates overdue tasks, tracks completion at every level, and integrates with ISO 14001 document control such as QualTrax or SharePoint.
